Odin Maxwell is a professor at Caprica University.

Twelve years prior to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies, Maxwell works in Caprica University's Department of Advanced Science and becomes Gaius Baltar's mentor. Under Maxwell's tutelage, Baltar ascends into a professor at the university, advocating a lift of the ban against artificial intelligence.

Maxwell, who also sits on the Magnate Prize board, nominates Baltar, resulting in his first win of that award.

Later, Baltar and Maxwell part ways after Baltar gives up his position at Caprica Univeristy, which leads him to work on the Command Navigation Program project for the Ministry of Defense. Sometime later, Maxwell leaves the university himself, and along the way somehow learns of the Cylons evolution, attempting to warn Baltar that he's a pawn to the Cylons' plans.

Maxwell and Baltar meet for one last time, when Baltar visits his apartment in Caprica City's Red Light District and uncovers the squalid conditions his professor lives in. After discovering various scriblings on the wall and an unhealthy fascination with Cylons, Baltar runs off, leaving Maxwell to chase him into the night. Caprica-Six, who apparently followed Baltar to the rendezvous, pursues Maxwell, who manages to mortally wound Six after shooting at her. Six kills him before dying herself (Battlestar Galactica: Origins 2), and having her consciousness transfer to a resurrection facility (Battlestar Galactica: Origins 3).
