Elosha is a Colonial priest present at the decommissioning ceremonies for Galactica, and later presides over services within the Fleet.

Elosha was a priestess who attended the decommissioning ceremonies for the Battlestar Galactica, and later presided over services within the fleet. She and President Laura Roslin became friends and confidants by means of a mutual spiritual awakening.
At the time of the Cylon attack, Elosha is aboard Colonial Heavy 798, returning to Caprica with others attendees of Galacticas decommissioning.  When word comes that President of the Twelve Colonies Richard Adar and the rest of his cabinet have been wiped out, Elosha administers the oath of office of President to Secretary of Education Laura Roslin.

Biography
Following the Fleet's escape from the Cylons at Ragnar Anchorage, Elosha presides over the funeral service aboard Galactica for  the ship's dead (Miniseries). With the crew suffering from shock and low morale, Commander William Adama enlists Elosha's knowledge of the Sacred Scrolls and the legend of Earth to give his people cause for hope. Elosha later presides over the Service for the Dead for the seven Galactica pilots lost in a freak accident during a celebration in the port hangar deck (Act of Contrition).
According to a podcast conversation with actress Lorena Gale, Elosha had been on the Quorum of Twelve for some twenty years. She was present on Galactica to "cut the tape" at the decommissioning ceremony.

According to Gale and her readings of various scripts, Elosha had been a "wild child" and a "juvenile delinquent", and as such was given a choice between reform school and the monastery. She chose the monastery, where they "do a lot of drugs", i.e. chamalla. Elosha certainly knows the scriptures inside and out.
While keeping it from others, Elosha has a crisis of faith. Though she is well-versed in the Sacred Scrolls and the history of the Thirteen Tribes of Kobol, she does not entirely believe in the truth of either (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I). Her faith is renewed when she is called to Colonial One to speak with President Roslin and learns that Roslin is having visions, one which mirrors the writings of Pythia, an ancient oracle (The Hand of God). Inspired by their mutual spiritual awakening, Elosha becomes Roslin's confidante and spiritual advisor and helps Roslin discern the meanings of her visions (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I).

At the time of the Cylon attack, she was travelling aboard Colonial Heavy 798, returning to Caprica with others who had attended the Galactica ceremonies. When word came through that President Richard Adar's entire cabinet has been wiped out with the exception of Laura Roslin, the Education Secretary, Elosha officiated at a swearing-in ceremony at which Roslin was made President of the Twelve Colonies.
Elosha becomes the fourth person to know of Roslin's terminal cancer (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I). This confirms in Elosha's eyes Roslin's role of "the dying leader" in prophecy.

Following the Cylon attack, when the suriving fleet had apparently evaded the Cylons, Elosha presided over a service aboard the Galactica in memory of the ship's dead (Mini-Series). At the time, with his crew suffering from shock and low morale, Commander Adama gave his people cause for hope: the legendary planet Earth, enlisting Elosha's help to do so.

Elosha further presided over the Service of the Dead following the lost of seven of the Galactica's pilots in freak accident on the hanger bay (Act of Contrition).
After Roslin's escape from incarceration on Galactica following her arrest in a military coup, Elosha accompanies her on a Raptor piloted by Lee Adama to the Astral Queen. She is visibly uncomfortable when Roslin decides to play "the religious card" to persuade 24 ships of the Fleet to follow her to Kobol (The Farm).

While she did not reveal as much to others, Elosha was having a crisis of faith: while she was versed in the Scriptures and the history of the Twelve Tribes of man, she did not entirely believe in the truth of either (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I).
While plans are drawn above Kobol to explore the planet, Elosha mentions the Scrolls say Zeus warns any return to Kobol would exact a price in blood. Once on Kobol, Elosha triggers an antipersonnel landmine left by Cylon Centurions while examining an ancient gravestone marker on the path towards the Gates of Hera and the Tomb of Athena, and is killed instantly. Roslin takes Elosha's copy of the Sacred Scrolls and sadly continues her journey without her (Home, Part I).

Her faith underwent a renewal when she is called to Colonial One to speak with President Roslin. Here she learned that Roslin was having visions, one of which could be linked directly to the writings of Pythia (The Hand of God).

Because of her knowledge of ancient history, and of the scriptures, Elosha becomes Roslin's confidante and spiritual advisor, and is able to help discern the meanings of Roslin's visions (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I) - thus causing her own faith to undergo a renewal.
During the Cylon rebel baseship's pursuit of the Resurrection Hub in "The Hub", Roslin experiences visions featuring Elosha at each FTL jump. In these visions, Elosha guides her through an empty Galactica and shows Roslin her death from cancer. Elosha tries to teach her to love, and convinces her to save Gaius Baltar, who is seriously wounded during the battle. Elosha also helps Roslin realize Galactica is her home now, and acknowledge her feelings toward William Adama.

Elosha is a Colonial priest present at the decommissioning ceremonies for Galactica, and later presides over services within the Fleet.

At the time of the Cylon attack, Elosha is aboard Colonial Heavy 798, returning to Caprica with others attendees of Galactica's decommissioning. When word comes that President of the Twelve Colonies Richard Adar and the rest of his cabinet have been wiped out, Elosha administers the oath of office of President to Secretary of Education Laura Roslin.

Elosha becomes the fourth person to know of Roslin's terminal cancer (Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I). This confirms in Elosha's eyes Roslin's role of "the dying leader" in prophecy.

Roslin, et al. mourn the loss of Elosha on Kobol.

In Roslin's visions[edit]

During the Cylon rebel baseship's pursuit of the Resurrection Hub in "The Hub", Roslin experiences visions featuring Elosha at each FTL jump. In these visions, Elosha guides her through an empty Galactica and shows Roslin her death from cancer. Elosha tries to teach her to love, and convinces her to save Gaius Baltar, who is seriously wounded during the battle. Elosha also helps Roslin realize Galactica is her home now, and acknowledge her feelings toward William Adama.

Notes[edit]

 • The role of Elosha was originally offered by Ron D. Moore and David Eick to Richard Hatch, who passed on it.[1]
 • In a podcast conversation[2] with actress Lorena Gale, Elosha had been on the Quorum of Twelve for some twenty years, and was present on Galactica to "cut the tape" at the decommissioning ceremony.
 • According to Gale and her readings of various scripts, Elosha had been a "wild child" and a "juvenile delinquent", and as such was given a choice between reform school and the monastery. She chose the monastery, where they "do a lot of drugs", i.e. chamalla. She also relates that Elosha knows the scriptures inside and out.
