A rescue team sent by Galactica to Caprica meets with survivors in an unknown woods and is pinned down by Cylons (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I). The team retreats to an old stone fortress and then the bombardment stops. They wait 18 hours only to discover that the Cylons have left permanently; Cavil mysteriously appears and claims that the Cylons are leaving. The rescue team returns to Galactica and Caprica is completely abandoned.
