An Air Group is composed of all Viper squadrons, Raptors and support ships assigned to a battlestar.

The Air Group is commanded by the battlestar's senior pilot who is known as the Commander, Air Group, generally referred to as "CAG".  The term Air Group is only used in the title of the CAG as in practise the Viper and Raptor force is called the Air Wing.
