Barry Kennedy (born 1955) is the Canadian actor and stand-up comedian who portrayed Admiral Peter Corman in "Hero," an episode of the Re-imagined Series.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kennedy is a stand-up comedian and writer, having written two novels, Through the Deadfall (1997) and The Hindmost (1998).

Barry Nerling was born in Vernon,British Columbia. He later moved to Vancouver to pursue acting full time. During his time in Vancouver, Barry has been on many of the popular Sci-Fi T.V. series filmed in Vancouver including acting and stunt credits on Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Eureka and Tinman. Barry first appeared on Battlestar Galactica in Season One Episode 3 as a prisoner recruited to help the fleet find water in exchange for time off his sentence. Soon after his character became a Marine and has since become Adama's Corporal and somewhat of a known fixture on Galactica.

Barry Van Dyke (born 31 July 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American actor.

Van Dyke is the second son of legendary American TV and film actor and entertainer, Dick Van Dyke.

Van Dyke got into show business early with his first television role at age nine, where he played a violin-toting nine year old in "The Talented Neighborhood" episode of his father's classic series, The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Van Dyke's other television work includes his starring role as St. John Hawke in the fourth season of Airwolf. He appeared in the TV shows Gun Shy, Mr. Mom, and The Redd Foxx Show. His films include Foxfire Light, It Happened at Lakewood Manor, and Casino. Recently, Van Dyke is worked behind the scenes on subsequent ventures of his father's, and has co-starred with him in two series, The Van Dyke Show, and Diagnosis Murder, also writing and directing several episodes of this series.

Van Dyke is an avid motorcyclist with special enthusiasm for dirt bikes, which came in handy during the filming of Galactica 1980, where he co-starred as the Colonial Warrior Dillon.

Commander Barry Garner is the third commanding officer of Pegasus, appointed by Admiral William Adama after the deaths of Admiral Helena Cain and Commander Jack Fisk. Before his promotion, he was the ship's chief engineer.

As commander, Garner does not inspire great confidence and runs the ship like a martinet. Kara Thrace considers him "paranoid and barely competent" (TRS: "The Captain's Hand"), an opinion shared by Kendra Shaw (TRS: "Razor"). Garner holds a similar contempt for both women: he orders Thrace's transfer back to Galactica (The Captain's Hand), and reassigns Shaw to mess duty (Razor).

Garner's rash judgment and lack of experience jeopardizes Pegasus when he disobeys Admiral Adama's orders and takes the battlestar into the binary stellar cloud to recover the missing crews instead of an advance recon of Raptors as instructed.

As Adama suspects, three Cylon basestars ambush Pegasus and damage her FTL. Garner momentarily freezes under the pressure, then decides that he needs to lead the repair team personally, handing the CIC over to Major Lee Adama. Garner enters a compartment which is venting air into space, seals the hatch behind him and finds the coolant leak disabling the FTL drive. Meanwhile, Major Adama's tactics severely damage one of the basestars and throw the others into disarry, buying Garner time to fix the leak. Garner's repair brings Pegasus's FTL back into operation and the battlestar escapes the lop-sided battle. However, Garner succumbs to hypoxia in the compartment and dies.

After the battle, the events surrounding Garner's death are reviewed by both Adamas. Reports were also filed by both Major Adama and Thrace. Major Adama understands that Garner's failure was in treating people as he would a machine, whereas Thrace's assessment of him is considerably harsher (TRS: "The Captain's Hand").

Notes

• This character was originally named "Barry Trammel," but at the last minute it had to be changed for legal reasons when the production team found that there was a real person with that name.
• Unlike William Adama, Helena Cain, Saul Tigh and Jack Fisk, Garner does not wear flight wings, indicating that a pilot background may not be a necessary prerequisite for command of a battlestar. Although Garner's background appears to be primarily in engineering, the lack of high-ranking Pegasus officers, to which Admiral Adama repeatedly alludes, might have persuaded him to waive this requirement.
